Alex Church (Lab Tech, Student, Resident) is a Minneapolis-based actor, director, writer, producer, and comedian. A graduate of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, he can be found around town doing just about anything! Alex has worked as an artist and administrator for companies like the Guthrie, What's Next Productions, Lakeshore Players Theater, Bryant Lake Bowl, and now Hypnic Jerk Theatre. A dual citizen of Australia and the US, Gillian Constable (Susie Monahan) made the Twin Cities her home after graduating from Luther College in 2017 with a BA in Theatre. Since then, she has performed with various theatres including Frank Theatre, Lyric Arts, EnCompass Theatre, BARd Shakes, Fearless Comedy, St. Croix Festival, Lakeshore Players, and more. Outside of acting, Gillian is a singer, flautist, aspiring dialect coach, and works as the Community Engagement and Box Office Manager at Theater Latté Da.
Dominic DeLong-Rodgers (Jason Posner) is an actor and teaching artist based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He has been a member of the performing company with Classical Actors Ensemble (CAE) since 2020, appearing in such roles as Cassio (Othello), Mercutio (Romeo & Juliet), Horatio (Hamlet), and Lysander (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), among others. He has helped to originate innovative immersive theater with Sparkle Theatricals of Minneapolis, and has remained a collaborative artist with Eggtooth Productions of Greenfield, Massachusetts, near his hometown in the state’s Pioneer Valley. In addition to performing, Dominic has taught courses at Macalester College, and continues to serve as a teaching artist with Children’s Theatre Company, SteppingStone Theatre for Youth, and Classical Actors Ensemble. Dominic holds a BA in Theater and Dance from Macalester College.
Joy Donley (Vivian Bearing) is a freelance theatre director, producer, actor and educator with an M.A. in Theatre Education from UST. Joy has enjoyed working in theatre for over 30 years, directing for Open Window Theatre, Bucket Brigade, the Fringe, Nocturnal Giraffe and her own company, Front Porch Theatre. Joy is excited to return to the stage after last performing the role of Becca in Rabbit Hole, under the direction of Kari Steinbach. Joy would like to dedicate her performance to the memory of her mother, Lois, who in her lifetime was an ovarian cancer survivor.
Brian Joyce (Harvey Kelekian, Mr. Bearing) is excited to work with Hypnic Jerk Theatre for the first time. Brian first appeared on stage with Theatre Saint Paul at the age of four. He earned his BA in Theatre Arts from Bethel College. Brian has been active for more than 40 years in the Twin Cities theater scene having worked with Park Square, Gremlin, Theatre in the Round, Lakeshore Players, Shakespeare and Company, Red Eye, Theatre Coup d’Etat, New Native Theatre, Turtle Collective and others as an actor and a director. Brian also works as an actor in films, commercials and as voice talent.
Meri Golden (E.M. Ashford) is very excited about being a part of this wonderful play, whose content touches very close to home, and to be directed again by Kari Steinbach. Meri has worked with a number of theatres around the twin cities including most recently Theatre Pro Rata (By the Bog of Cats), Theatre in the Round ( A Murder is Announced, Dog Logic, Deathtrap, Independence, Richard III, and Romeo and Juliet [directed by Kari]); Theatre Coup D'Etat (Pyrates!, Hamlet, Angels in America, Macbeth and The Tempest), Lakeshore Players (The Lion in Winter [directed by Kari]), Theatre Unbound, Nimbus Theatre, Illusion Theatre, Girl Friday, Open Window, Gremlin Theatre, Park Square and many others. Meri has retired from the faculty of Inver Hills Community College where she directed and taught Theatre and Speech Communication classes and was on the Community Faculty at Metro State University. Meri and her husband love to travel, especially to visit their grandchildren.
Luke Peterson (Lab Tech, Student, Resident) is ecstatic to be making his Hypnic Jerk Theatre debut in Wit. Originally from the small town of Newhall, IA, Luke graduated with bachelor’s degrees in Theatre and Sociology from St. Ambrose University (SAU) in May 2021. Since then, Luke has relocated to the Twin Cities, where he currently works as a freelance actor/director and as a teaching artist through Hennepin Theatre Trust's Spotlight Education program. Some of Luke’s favorite previous roles include Dean Hyde in All Shook Up, (Paul Bunyan Playhouse) Ernie in Rumors, (SAU) and Alan Billing in An Enemy of the People (SAU).
Ben Qualley (Lab Tech, Student, Resident) is thrilled to be working with Hypnic Jerk Theatre for the first time, as well as making his debut at Theatre in the Round! Previous works include Noises Off at Lakeshore Players, Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley at Lyric Arts, as well as a number of shows at St. Croix Festival Theatre. Kelly Solberg (Lab Tech, Student, Resident) is a Twin Cities actor with a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Minnesota Duluth. She is excited to be back performing at Theatre in the Round while making her Hypnic Jerk debut with W;t ! Kelly worked with director Kari Steinbach on Doubt: A Parablethis past fall at Theatre in the Round and participated in Readings in the Round at TRP this winter.
